Nurturing futures, protecting nature

Welcome to Harbert Foundation Uganda. We are dedicated to empowering children in the Bwindi area through education, environmental stewardship, and essential support, fostering a generation that respects themselves, their culture, and their environment.

Our impactful programmes

Harbert Foundation Uganda offers vital programmes designed to uplift children and protect the precious Bwindi environment. We currently have more than 40 children registered on our school sponsorship programme with many more requesting our help.

We aim to provide a safe space for our community children to come and join in the fun, enjoy a hot meal and play games with their friends. We want them to feel proud of their rural upbringing and to have the same opportunities as other children.

Thank you for joining us!

Environmental education

We encourage children to look after their environment, care for wildlife, and learn about nature conservation, fostering a deep connection with the natural world.

School and food support

We provide essential food and school services to rural children whose families cannot afford them, ensuring every child has the chance to thrive and learn.

Community development

Beyond individual support, we engage in community development initiatives to ensure children are brought up well with respect for themselves and their culture.

About Harbert Foundation Uganda

Based in Mukono village, in the Southern ward of Buhoma Town, Uganda, the Harbert Foundation Uganda is dedicated to making a tangible difference in the lives of children in the Bwindi area.

Our foundation champions education, environmental responsibility, and cultural respect, ensuring a brighter future for these young individuals.

Mr Musinguzi Harbert, the founder of Harbert Foundation Uganda writes I struggled during my education, because I had no tuition, although I managed to complete primary level with out putting on uniform, shoes and taking books in a polythene bag because I had no bag.

From my there, I developed a dream of starting a foundation of helping kids who have the same issues like me. I managed to get a job after my college, then I started to to share part of the salary with the kids paying for them tuition, buying school supplies, uniforms and shoes. In 2021,I lost my job because of covid 19 and I remember my family needed much attention from me. Some children came to start studying at my house but then I continued to struggle.

In 2023, I got our first donor, who donated, school supplies for the children for one semester. Despite this being short term, I did not give up and in 2024 I got some one to sponsor twins, but unfortunately, challenges came her way and she could only support the twins for two semesters. To ensure I could continue supporting the children, I continued selling vegetables and eggs moving onto more than 40 children attending the foundation almost daily.
